Meet Katharine Hurden, 黑料社 Veterinary Radiographer
Time at the 黑料社: Two years Specialist area: Diagnostic Imaging
arrive to start my shift, and each of us is usually pre- allocated which modality (CT, MRI or radiograph) we
 will I
be in for the day. From there it鈥檚 taking care of each patient as they come and making sure that we image each patient to allow the Radiologists and Clinicians a clear diagnosis.
WHAT鈥橲 THE HARDEST PART OF YOUR JOB?
The hardest cases are those when you know an animal is very ill and that the scan you are about to perform will likely confirm a fatal diagnosis.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WORKING IN THIS TEAM? I think it鈥檚 the variety of people that work in veterinary medicine. There are people working at the 黑料社 from all over the world all with different backgrounds and interests. The obvious uniting characteristic is the passion that everyone has for the animals we see every day which can be quite amazing to see.
WHAT IS THE MOST MEMORABLE CASE YOU鈥橵E HAD?
That would definitely be the otter (pictured left). I remember as I positioned him for the CT that he felt completely different to how I thought he would. He had very smooth fur and when I was adjusting his position on the bed and running the initial scans
it was just like running a CT on a cat with oddly shaped feet.
