The ºÚÁÏÉç’s Open Day at the Hertfordshire Campus, typically in May/June, is an all-encompassing, immersive and informative event for prospective students, parents/guardians and advisors.
This annual event is one of the largest and most popular on-campus visiting opportunity in the ºÚÁÏÉç calendar. The day will offer in-depth pathway presentations and the opportunity to speak with lead academics and passionate Student Ambassadors from the ºÚÁÏÉç’s three undergraduate pathways: Biological Sciences, Veterinary Medicine & Veterinary Nursing. To ensure that all areas of the ºÚÁÏÉç are represented on the day; professionals from Accommodation, Admissions, Learning & Wellbeing and the Students’ Union will be on-hand to share their insight through informal conversations.
There are a multitude of activities simultaneously running throughout the day, such as campus tours, behind the scenes access to hospital facilities, the chance to undertake hands-on clinical skills, rare access to Boltons Park Farm and student accommodation viewings. This access-all-areas Open Day offers the opportunity for you to envision what being an ºÚÁÏÉç student is like to help you decide whether the ºÚÁÏÉç is your best fit.

BSc Biological Sciences (UCAS Code C100), BSc Bioveterinary Sciences (UCAS Code D300), BSc Biological/Bioveterinary Sciences with a Certificate in Work-Based Learning (UCAS Code C101/D301), BSc Animal Biology, Behaviour, Welfare and Ethics)(UCAS code D390), BSc Biological Sciences (Wildlife Health Sciences)(UCAS code C301), MSci Biological Sciences (UCAS code C102), MSci Bioveterinary Sciences (UCAS code D302), MSci Applied Biological Research (UCAS code C103), MSci Applied Bioveterinary Research (UCAS code D303) & MSci Biological Sciences (Wildlife Health Sciences)(UCAS code C302). All of these programmes are intended for students interested in Animal Science at the interface between the basic biological sciences and clinical practice, and prepares graduates for a wide variety of post-graduate careers related to the animal biological sciences and animal welfare.
The five-year BVetMed degree course (UCAS code D100), the five-year BVSc degree course (UCAS code D105), the four-year Graduate Accelerated BVetMed degree (UCAS code D102) and the six-year combined BVetMed/BSc course (UCAS Code D101), all lead to a degree qualification entitling the holder to practise as a veterinary surgeon. The six-year course is designed for students with a keen interest in science as well as veterinary medicine, and graduates are awarded a BSc degree before completing the BVetMed.
The Veterinary Gateway course (UCAS Code D190) is a one-year course available to students from non-selective schools who are members of the Widening Participation cohort. Successful completion leads to a place on the five-year BVetMed degree course.
The three-year Foundation Degree Veterinary Nursing (UCAS Code D310), and the four year BSc Veterinary Nursing (UCAS Code D313), both provide a strong practical training in essential nursing skills. Staff will be available to give advice and guidance on veterinary nursing and other careers involving working with animals.
