“The scholarship has given me a lot more freedom and
more time to do things that I enjoy. Usually during the
holidays and weekends, I would have been just working
all the time. So now having the scholarship is giving
me the opportunity to be with friends and family a bit
more, be with my dogs, which they really appreciate, and
getting that part of my life back, which is great. Also, it’s
given me the opportunity to travel through placements
and also just helping me buy textbooks and materials
that I need for the course. I purchased scrubs and suture
kits. I’ve been saving some of the money to put towards a
placement that I really want to do abroad, hopefully next
summer in Sri Lanka.”

“My biggest fear was that I would
have to work close to full time to
pay for my course and rent.
The scholarship has freed up a
lot of that time, which can be put
back into university.”
JOSEPH TOWARD
Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine –
Linkou Scholar “I think it is so important to help
people from different backgrounds
become vet nurses. It is a generous
and amazing thing to do. I struggled
in school, but this has given me
hope that I will be able to graduate
as a registered vet nurse. Thanks
to the scholarship, university is a
little easier because I’m not worrying

more than I have done before. I have noticed
a significant improvement in my assimilation
of information from lectures. The scholarship
funded my lambing placement. This enabled me
to employ the theoretical techniques, I learned
in lectures to practical scenarios. Working
alongside a vet, it highlighted the differences
between small animal and farm veterinary.
The Linkou Scholarship is an opportunity,
which I am very grateful to have received.”
