COMMUNITY

        Working with primary schools

In March, we were excited to be able to open our farm doors
once again to local primary schools. Pupils learnt about Farm
to Fork and what it is like to be a vet student. The Community
Relations & Events team, along with our amazing student
ambassadors and Farm Manager, welcomed over 100 children
        from Year 4 to 6.
The children talked to our Shepherdess, Aimee about our
sheep and their lambs, visited the milking parlour and were
able to learn where their eggs come from by visiting our
‘chicken village’. For some it was their first experience of a
farm visit and a great educational experience for us all!
One schoolteacher commented: “All I could get out of the
children was - the chickens! They so loved that time spent in
with the chickens, which is not what I would have predicted”.

           FREECYCLE ROOM
We have had our busiest few
           months yet in our freecycle
           rooms (note the plural!), where
           current students, leavers and
           staff have generously donated
many items and our freshers have
           been busy collecting them! We
have recycled over 80 boiler suits
and lab coats, 30 pairs of wellies
and lots of other useful items such
           as bedding, kitchen crockery,
           clothing, fancy dress outfits and
           general household items.
