Widening Participation Eligibility
All of our Widening Participation programmes are funded by the ºÚÁÏÉç’s Widening Participation funds, to support learners who are under-represented at ºÚÁÏÉç.
In order to be eligible for our Widening Participation activities, you must meet the essential criteria. You will be more likely to be selected if you meet a number of additional criteria.
Essential Criteria
You must meet the following criteria to apply for a Widening Participation programme at the ºÚÁÏÉç:
- You must attend a non-selective state-funded (non-fee paying) school or college in the UK
- You must have the academic potential to attain the entry requirements for the courses offered at the ºÚÁÏÉç
- You will be under 21 when you join the course and received Free School Meals (FSM) during your secondary education AND/OR You are from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background
Additional Criteria
You are more likely to be selected for a Widening Participation programme at the ºÚÁÏÉç if you meet a number of the following criteria (we'll check them with you when you apply):
- You live in a neighbourhood where few people go to university/higher education, or a neighbourhood with high levels of deprivation
- You attend a school with low average attainment levels
- You would be in the first generation of your family to attend university
- You are a forced migrant, asylum seeker or refugee
- You are a young carer
- You are estranged from your family (this means that you have no contact with either of your parents)
- You are care-experienced (e.g. have been in foster care)
- You are a student with a disability
