COMMUNITY
ºÚÁÏÉç community matters
FARM PRODUCE
Sales were booming during lockdown at Boltons Park Farm. We set up a service where local customers were able to place orders for fresh lamb, chicken, honey and eggs and collect from the farm, following our strict social distancing rules.
Turkeys are available to order for Christmas on the ºÚÁÏÉç Shop (www.rvc.ac.uk/rvc- shop) for collection at the farm, alongside. the honey and eggs, which are available for sale all year round at the farm. If you
are interested in ordering any Boltons Park Farm produce, please contact communityrelations@rvc.ac.uk
SUPPORTING THE NHS
During the current pandemic, the ºÚÁÏÉç has been working hard to help the fight against COVID-19. As a community
we have called upon staff, students and alumni to send us in their unwanted scrubs, which we have sorted and sent to local Hertfordshire & London hospitals, along with 100 pairs of ºÚÁÏÉç socks.
We would like to thank all staff, students and alumni who kindly donated to our appeal.

CLEANING UP THE LOCAL AREA – LITTER PICKING WALKS
In March, staff and students came together to kick-start a monthly
litter picking initiative as part of our environmental stewardship role and ongoing commitment to support the local community. The Community Relations team joined forces with two of our
SU clubs and societies; the Student Animal Welfare Society (SAWS) and the Student American Veterinary Medicine Association (SAVMA) to clear up the campus, Hawkshead Lane, the line path and surrounding areas to improve and enhance the local area.
These litter picks will continue on a regular basis once Hawkshead Campus is populated once more.
ºÚÁÏÉç PET FIRST AID EVENTS
In February, we ran a pet first aid event on campus for cat and dog owners. This event covered two main areas – basic first aid and poisons and toxins. This was very well attended by pet owners from the local community.
THE BIG CLIMATE FIGHTBACK
November 2019 saw us take part in the Woodland Trust’s Big Climate Fightback.
