From Royal Garden Party to royal couples...
The ºÚÁÏÉç has a long history steeped in tradition and is lucky to have long standing relationships with Royalty. The ºÚÁÏÉç’s current Patron is HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, the College’s charity the Animal Care Trust (ACT) has HRH The Duchess of Cornwall as its Patron and the University of London has HRH The Princess Royal as its Chancellor.
We are very lucky to have the opportunity to attend some pretty special events, the Royal Garden Party being one of them. In 2018, the ACT gave one of its volunteers the chance to attend this prestigious event and the College some of its long standing staff members.
Eight members of staff from different areas of the College attended, between them having clocked up over 220 years service to the ºÚÁÏÉç!
Jackie Sharp, of the ºÚÁÏÉç’s Queen Mother Hospital for Animals said they had a fabulous day and felt honoured to be asked to represent the ºÚÁÏÉç.
Well done to our fantastic staff and volunteers – keep up the amazing work you do here!
Couples who met through the ºÚÁÏÉç
On Valentine’s Day we posted on
social media a request to ºÚÁÏÉç alumni asking if you had met your partner at the ºÚÁÏÉç! We were overwhelmed with the messages we received!
It was great to hear your stories and how many of you took more than
a degree away from the College.
Here we feature your responses . . . Don’t forget to join up to our Facebook page (search for Royal Veterinary College Alumni to find us) so that you can enjoy and contribute to your life experiences during and post-studying!
James Bigglestone
Met in the first week, walking back to Connie Hall from the Camden Campus - she was wearing a long green coat. Became an item in the March of our second term and married one month after graduation in 1995. We have four
gorgeous children and an ark full of pets. I think there were a stack of us (1995) grads who met and married.
Sally Dixon
I will never forget Jenny Plummer telling us to stand up and look around in our first ever lecture. She then informed us that 12 of us were looking at our future life partners. I was sat in front of James Dixon - 20 years later we’re happily married with two beautiful children and I think there are five other couples from our year. I didn’t believe a word of it at the time!
