ºÚÁÏÉç

The Queen Mother Hospital for Animals (QMHA) is one of the largest and most advanced veterinary hospitals in the world and the location of most of the services of ºÚÁÏÉç Small Animal Referrals.

The hospital is a purpose-built facility just north of the M25 and near Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. This makes it within easy reach of London, the home counties and East Anglia. As a world-renowned teaching hospital, our clinicians have access to the latest research and most advanced equipment.

ºÚÁÏÉç Small Animal Referrals has a wealth of distinct clinical services and clinics let by leading experts in each discipline. However, we also have a 'transdisciplinary' approach, which means veterinary specialists with expertise in different areas work together on many cases to ensure that referred animals get input from different clinical disciplines and benefit from the experience of different practitioners. Having such a range of experts working together under one roof is of great benefit to our patients and also to owners, who value having a 'one-stop-shop' to deal with whatever the presentation is. Often conditions are complex and effect more than one system, or animals may have more that one condition impacting upon one another.

The education of vets, veterinary nurses, scientists and advanced specialists is core to the ºÚÁÏÉç's mission. Trainee veterinary specialists are actively involved with the clinical work within our teaching hospitals and veterinary students will also be involved with cases, under supervision of senior vets, and observe procedures. As well as helping to train the vets of the future, the wealth of clinicians involved with cases means that each animal gets extensive veterinary input.
