The Royal Veterinary College (RVC) is pleased to announce that it has been confirmed as a member of the new Turing University Network.

This newly established Network, launched by The Alan Turing Institute (the national institute for data science and artificial intelligence), will create a new way for the Institute to work with universities across the UK. The Network is also part of Turing’s strategy which is aimed at using data science and AI for social good.

By participating in this Network, ºÚÁÏÉç researchers and students working on projects with an AI or machine learning component will benefit from access to events and funding information that have the potential to further develop their projects. It will also enable the development of better connections across the data science and AI communities which will help accelerate the ºÚÁÏÉç’s research and impact.

Membership in this Network also builds on the ºÚÁÏÉç’s existing relationship with The Turing, after the institution was named amongst the first-ever successful applicants to receive the Turing Network Development Award in 2022.

Dr Dong Xia, Senior Lecturer in Bioinformatics at the ºÚÁÏÉç, said:

“We are excited to join the Turing University Network and collaborate with the Alan Turing Institute and AI researchers in the national network. This will enhance the ºÚÁÏÉç’s unique and leading role in the application of quantitative and computational methods to solve problems in veterinary and animal health.”

Donna Brown, Director of Academic Engagement at The Alan Turing Institute, said:

“We’re delighted to launch a new UK-wide university network of data science and AI expertise via the Turing University Network. The network is crucial to successful delivery of the Institute Strategy, enables our role as a national convenor in the data science and AI landscape, and creates opportunity for meaningful collaboration where interests align across research and innovation, skills, and engagement.”
