Emma joined the Research Office at ºÚÁÏÉç in January 2018 and has over 15 years experience in supporting research and innovation in the higher education sector.
As Head of Research Development, Emma supports development of strategic partnerships with industry, government, major charities and other funding bodies. She also supports the TRACI and CVRM projects, and the development or large or complex funding appllcations including developing influential relationships with industry, national networks, funders, and government agencies to facilitate the ºÚÁÏÉç's research objectives.
Emma provides tailored support on multi-partner bids, personal awards including fellowships and navigating the best approach to the range of funders in the ºÚÁÏÉç portfolio. She also works closely with colleagues on a range of activities accross the ºÚÁÏÉç, including research-related policies and training and information sessions to support the ºÚÁÏÉçs research community.
Since completing her PhD in 2004, Emma has worked in various strategic research development roles. Previously she has led on large scale and clinical funding for the Wellcome Trust and Cancer Research UK, and was project manager for the MRC Network of Hubs for Trials Methodology Research, based at UCL. More recent roles have encompassed various areas including Business Development, Grants Management, Conferences and Events organisation and delivering activities including REF and Knowledge Exchange support. Emma acted as Chair of the Steering Committee for the Bloomsbury SET, a £5million Research England programme supporting Knowledge Exchange (2019-2022).
